Budget session set to begin on Feb 23: high hopes for constructive, productive session

While government is nearing the most-awaited budget session of the parliament, the centre anticipates a constructive and productive budget session. Reports say that the budget session of the parliament will begin on twenty-third February. Union Finance minister is expected to present the general budget on the seventh day of the budget session. As per the information, this brief session is totally dedicated to the financial business of the government body. Last day, after the Cabinet meeting, a senior minister announced that the government would not cut-short the budget session for the regional assembly elections. Earlier, there were reports that the government may cut-short the upcoming Parliament session. Meanwhile, Parliamentary affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu announces that the initial phase of the session would end on coming sixteenth March and the next phase of the section would start from twenty-fifth April. He admits that there were suggestions to cut-down the recess period due to the upcoming assembly elections. He asserts that the all-party meeting and Cabinet Meeting had decided to go for a full productive session. However, the Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi expresses big hopes about the upcoming budget sessions. While sharing his view about the budget session, minister said that the forthcoming session would be extremely constructive and optimistic. In addition, Minister hopes that the session would not face much interruption from the oppositions, unlike the previous sessions. However, some key bills, including the mush-anticipated GST bill, will be tabled in the current session.
