Bonanza for ‘gov Babus’: Centre accepts pay commission recommendations

In an effort to woo the centre government employees, the BJP-led centre government has accepted recommendations of the seventh pay commission, which recommended salary hike to the ‘gov babus’. As per report, the government is planning around twenty four per cent hike in the salaries of over one crore central government staffs. The new revamped pay scale will be paid with effect from January 1, 2016. It is said that the pending dues will be distributed to the employees in the current fiscal itself, and the renewed salary will be paid from next month on wards. Earlier, the seventh pay commission recommended that the government should provide at least sixteen per cent hike in the salaries and around twenty-four per cent hike in the pensions of central government employees. With the new pay scale, a fresher, who begins his career as a lowest rank officer, will get at least eighteen thousand instead of seven thousand. Similarly, a fresher, who begins his careers as a class 1 officer, will get nearly fifty-six thousand. Interestingly, as per the new scale the cabinet secretaries will get more salary than the money drawn by the parliament lawmakers. They will get at least two and half lakh instead of ninety thousand. Though the centre could be able to weed out the corruption, lobbying and favouritism to an extent with this salary hike, it is putting us into a heavy financial burden.
