Around 15 lost life in incident of wall collapse
As many as fifteen people have lost their life in Pune as the wall of an apartment has fallen over the slum located close to the wall. The deceased people, mostly the migrant workers from Bihar and Odisha, were the residents of the slum.
The timely interference of the recue department has averted the possibility of a great disaster. Several people have been rescued from the debris of the collapsed wall.
A senior minister has ordered the Pune District collection to constitute a special investigation team under the Additional District Collection to investigate the wall collapse, and also directed to take strong action against those responsible for the collapse.
The investigators are presently verifying whether the builders adhered to the safety measures, prescribed by the law, when they built the wall.
No case has been registered against the builders yet.
The city has been experiencing rainfall for last few days. The continuous rainfall might have affected the strength of the wall adversely.
What that has intensified the impact of the disaster is that when the wall has collapsed the cars parked near the wall have also fallen over the slum along with the wall.
A thorough investigation is needed in the matter.
