AI to serve only Veg means in their domestic flights.

In the measure to cut down the cost, the debt laden Air India would serve only Veg meals to economy passengers in the domestic flights. G.P Rao, Air India Spokesperson said, “ Air India has taken conscious decision not to have non vegetarian meal in economy class on its domestic flights to reduce wastage, reduce cost and improve catering serve.”

Air India, which has been put on sale by government, received a number of cost cutting measures from its employees to prevent it from privatisation. Air india has debt burdened over Rs 52,000 crore. This move would help them to reduce Rs 7 – 8 Crore. Likewise management has initiated other employees to come ahead with cost cutting measure to ensure they keep the Airlines fly high. In another report, a cabin crew in charge walked up to a senior official and shared his observation of wastage of 80% of salads served in the their international bound flight and asking them to remove salad from the menu.

The other airline that has set this example was one of the American carrier that saved around $1 lakh annually by their cost cutting methods.
