Aadhar car and Pan Card to be linked before july 1st.
Supreme court on Tuesday decided to not give any extension to link Aadhaar card and Pan card. The plea for a stay on the last date was pushed away by the supreme court on Tuesday. The voluntary linking of Aadhaar card with PAN card would on Friday as the new rule would come into force from 1st of July. This new rule pays way for the revived Income tax rule to keep a watch on tax evasion.
In a statement by revenue department, every person who has been allotted PAN card as on july 1st 2017,and who in accordance with the provisions of sub section (2) of section 139AA is required to intimate his/her aadhaar number to the principal DGIT (Director General of Income Tax).
As of now around 2 Crore people have linked their Aadhaar and Pan card out of 25 crore Pan Card holders. There are around 111 Crore Aadhaar car holders
