Aadhaar not necessary to avail the first instalment of newly announced farmers scheme

It is clarified that beneficiaries do not need to present their Aadhaar numbers to avail the first instalment of the newly announced farmers scheme, which offers every farmer who does not own more than two hectors of farm land a central financial assistance of Rs 6,000 per year.

It is learned that from the second instalment onwards that luxury will not be available. That means no person without a proper Aadhaar number will be able to completely enjoy the benefits offered by the central government.

The central government cannot be blamed for that. The present central government is of the belief that to ensure zero leakage of welfare fund the policy of fund transfer through Aadhaar is necessary. It is on that plank the present government has defended their position in the top court when it has been challenged there. So, it cannot be expected that the centre will dilute their policy in this matter.

The Aadhaar matter was one of the biggest confusions around the newly announced Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. Not all confusions have been successfully addressed yet. It is hoped that the centre would clear the air around the policy in few days.
